news:

i came into work yesterday and amanda called me over to ask what the deal was with me and jeff. ohhhh, that freaked me out. so i told him he had been saying racist things and it's really bothering me, and she said she was BEHIND ME 100%. she said she had talked to him before, and that she would talk to him again and make sure he understood that if it continued he would be fired. she said, "people think that they can do whatever they want because this is zumiez, but that's not the way i wantt to run my store. this is a place of business." YAY! i'm so glad to hear this kind of sanity. she agreed with me 100% on everything, not just about my own discomfort but that it's really important that our customers or anh (sadly our only employee who is a person of color) have to hear that kind of shit. so yaaaaay. amanda said i should be expecting an apology from jeff in the future, which isn't nessesary but really nice also. i really hope he takes this to heart and doesn't think that i'm just attacking him for no reason. i'll be sure to make that clear when we talk.

i'm so pleased with this. i think this is my first peice of anti-racist activism that actually affects other people and isn't just for my own education. *dances*
